Two Months In!

My dear friends.

I have been working with Fight4Freedom for just about two months now! And it has been a whirlwind. I have learned and experienced so much in such a short period of time!

Through lots of research and training, I have learned so much about human trafficking. Did you know that the majority of trafficking victims in Canada are Canadian born? At risk youth are the most vulnerable, but an increasing number of trafficking victims grew up in two-parent, middle-income homes as well.

Events

On September 30th, we hosted our Walk4Freedom in cities across Ontario and in the Philippines. Our volunteers took the day to walk through their cities in areas where human trafficking is known to happen, praying over these areas for healing and restoration. Through this walk we were able to raise around $12 000 for our survivor care fund!

At the end of October, we attended a Human Trafficking Conference at Appleby College held by the Social Justice Club there. Myself and another staff with Fight4Freedom had the opportunity to present about what Fight4Freedom is doing. But more importantly, we were able to share with a group on young people about what Human Trafficking is and what they can do to help end it! It was so encouraging to see so many high school students so interested in ending human trafficking!

Our Volunteer Teams

In October, our volunteer teams conducted multiple outreach trips to strip clubs and massage parlours. I had the privilege of attending two of these outreach trips with our North York team. It has been amazing to see how God is moving our volunteers into action and the work that He is doing through them in strip clubs and massage parlours all over Ontario!

A Survivor has Left the Industry!

We have also started working with a new survivor of Human Trafficking as she transitions out of the sex trade. She contacted us recently saying that she had made the decision to leave the industry after connecting with one of our volunteers in a strip club. We are now walking alongside her as she restores family relationships, starts working, and begins the process of healing! We are so excited to be a part of this journey with her. I will be intimately involved in this process for her, supporting our volunteers who have already developed a relationship with her and providing her with assistance as she requires it!

I am Still Learning!

On November 3rd, I attended a conference focused on survivor care. It was a packed day full of first-hand knowledge from survivors of human trafficking who were able to provide us with so many tips and practical advice for how to best support survivors! I am so excited to take this information and use it to further develop our after-care program!

In the next few months, I will be working to better develop our after-care program, a framework for us to use, partnerships with other organizations that will be helpful to survivors, and strengthen our ability to support survivors. One of the most important things that I have learned so far, is that each survivor is so unique, so we will need to develop unique plans for each individual, but having a framework under which we can do this, will make us so much more effective!

Support Raising

I would like to extend a special thank you to my supporters for taking a step out to support my work with Fight4Freedom. I am so deeply grateful that you have chosen to entrust your resources in me and Fight4Freedom! Thanks to you, I have already been able to raise half of my support goal for the year!

I am still looking for a few more supporters. If you or anyone you know is interested in the fight against Human Trafficking, I would be so grateful if you would consider praying about supporting my work with Fight4Freedom through finances, prayer, or participation!

Your support allows me to continue to fight with all that I have for the victims of human trafficking in Toronto and across the country.

Prayer

If you are interested in praying for myself and Fight4Freedom I would love your prayer in the following ways:

  • We are starting new programs in the Philippines working in education, prevention, rescue, and aftercare of human trafficking victims. Please pray that God will guide our Philippines team with Wisdom, Discernment, and Perseverance to make a positive impact in their community.
  • Please pray for our volunteer teams as they continue to do outreach across the province. They are entering potentially dangerous environments and working with some people who have been so broken. Please pray for continued safety, guidance, and love for the people with whom we work.
  • Please pray for the men and women with whom we are working. Pray that their hearts may be opened to Christ and for the safety and rescue of victims of human trafficking. Please also pray for the survivors that we are working with for their safety, healing, and restoration.
  • Please pray for wisdom, bravery, and confidence for myself and all of the Fight4Freedom staff as we continue in our mission to restore victims of human trafficking!

God Bless,

Kaitlyn
